Question: What is the bus?

Answer: A bus is a vehicle that runs twice as fast when you are after it as when you are in it.


 Student Concession Guideline

Eligible student ID cards:

A student ID card must be issued in Australia by one of the registered education providers.

A student ID card must show a student’s photo, expiry date and name of your registered education provider.

Fines:

You must carry your Student ID card at all times when travelling on concession fares, otherwise, the fines will apply to you.

 

NSW (New South Wales) - Trains / Buses / Light Rail / Ferries

Tertiary Students are eligible to apply for a Concession Opal card. You must carry a Student ID Card with the Concession card, otherwise, you get fines. Visit the Opal website to find more information.

International students are not eligible for a travel concession in NSW. International students need to get an Adult Opal Card. International students are eligible for a travel concession when their study is fully funded by the specified Australian Government scholarship. WA (Western Australia) - Trains / Buses / Ferries

Tertiary Students are eligible to apply for Tertiary SmartRider which entitles them to a concession fare. Students must carry a concession SmartRider and student ID card when travelling using concession fares.

International students are eligible for a Tertiary SmartRider card. It entitles them to a concession fare. They must be full-time students. Visit the Transperth website to find more information.

SA (South Australia) - Buses /Trams / Trains

Full-time tertiary students are entitled to a concession fare. Students studying online are not eligible for concession travel. International students are entitled to a concession fare for travel on public transport in South Australia. They must be full-time students. QLD (Queensland) - Buses / Trains / Trams / Ferries

Full-time Queensland or International students aged 16 years and older with a valid student ID card are entitled to discounts. Visit the TRANS Link website to find more information.

VIC (Victoria) - Buses / Trains / Trams

Tertiary students studying full time eligible for a Concession myki. Part-time and postgraduate students aren’t eligible for concession fares in Victoria.

International students aren't eligible for concession fares, but they can be entitled to a 50 per cent discount on an annual pass (iUSEpass). Visit the Public Transport Victoria website to find more information.

TAS (Tasmania) - Buses

Students aged 18 or younger are eligible for free travel. Full-time students are eligible for Concession fares. Full-time child students in special circumstances may be eligible for free travel on weekdays from 7 am to 7 pm between home and school. Visit the Metro Tasmania website to find more information.

ACT (Australian Capital Territory) - Buses / Light Rail

Students, Tertiary Students and International Students are eligible for a concession MyWay card. Eligibility: Full Time status/ a valid student ID. Visit the Transport Canberra website to find more information.

NT (Northern Territory) - Buses / Ferries

Young children and school students can travel for free. Tertiary students pay AUD1.00 for a trip (up to three hours of travel), AUD2.00 for a daily ticket or AUD7.00 for a weekly ticket. Visit the NT.GOV.AU website to find more information.
